How do I connect or pair my Android phone to my car or truck?
Depending on the make and model of your vehicle, there are several ways to connect your phone to your car or truck.
If your car or truck features Bluetooth® connectivity, you can connect your phone to your vehicle through a process called pairing. Before you begin the pairing process, we recommend having your vehicle's owner manual on hand as a reference. Vehicle manufacturers support a wide variety of multimedia systems that function in different ways. If you no longer have your owner's manual or need additional assistance pairing your vehicle to your phone, please click the link for your vehicle manufacturer's website. If your vehicle manufacturer is not listed, you can search for the manufacturer's website online.
Sit in your vehicle with the engine running and the multimedia system on.
Follow the instructions in your owner's manual or the multimedia system's user guide to turn on Bluetooth and allow the system to be discoverable.
From the main screen of your phone, tap the "Apps" icon.
Tap the "Settings" icon.
Tap "Bluetooth."
Tap the slider to turn Bluetooth ON.
A list of nearby Bluetooth devices will display. Tap the name that represents your vehicle's multimedia system.
If prompted to enter a PIN, enter your passcode and tap "PAIR."
If your car or truck does not support Bluetooth connectivity, you may still be able to use your stereo system to listen to the music stored on your phone. If your vehicle features a USB auxiliary input (similar in appearance to the USB ports on your computer), you can simply plug one end of the USB cable that came with your phone into the USB port. Plug the other end of the cable into the micro-USB port on your phone.
If your car or truck does not feature a USB auxiliary input, look for a 3.5mm auxiliary input (similar in appearance to a headphone jack). If your vehicle features this type of input, you will need a 3.5mm to 3.5mm cable to connect your phone to the stereo. Connect one end of the 3.5mm cable to the headphone jack on your phone. Then, plug the other end of the cable into your stereo's auxiliary input.
Please note that you may need to change your stereo input to "AUX" or "Line In" before the music can be heard through your vehicle speakers.
